With the worldwide fervor in learning Chinese rising gradually,the royal family,the government and the people of Thailand paid highly attention to Chinese teaching.Correspond to the development of time,the universities and education-related departments of China and Thailand established partnership actively and promoted the development of chinese teaching in Thailand greatly. The number of students studying Chinese has increased from50thousands to more than50million. Face to such a large and complex learning groups,it is very important for the teachers to know that how to choose a suitable teaching materials,how to use a scientific teaching method and how to make a reasonable teaching design.Recently,the recommended Chinese teaching materials for thai studens are mainly as Happy Chinese,Chinese Paradise,Experiencing Chinese,New Practical Chinese Reader,Thai Learn Chinese,Chinese Course,etc.No matter what version of the textbook has its own objects of arrangement,classification and style. Therefore, it is very necessary to make specific teaching design for different materials and different classes.In recent years, there rase three schools in the area of vocabulary teaching,as "word-based""Zi-based" and " Morpheme-based". In these three schools,the "Zi-based" has received extensive attention from the academia because of its theory conforms with Chinese characteristics more.The purpose of this thesis is to apply the idea of "Zi-based" to the practice of Chinese vocabulary teaching in Thailand, to make a teaching desigh of the vacabulary of Chinese Course (Volume III) under the guidence of the idea and to demonstrate the process of using this design though an actual teaching case.The writer hope to open the teaching ideas for textbook users in the future and to look for an effective way of vocabulary teaching.This thesis contains five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction, summarizes the research background, meaning, the content and methods of this thesis, as well as the "Zi-based" theory Research.The second chapter is the pre-demonstration of teaching design. First the thesis analyzes the source and characteristics of the teaching object, and tests the teaching objects’ level of vocabulary though the designed test of vocabulary,and then it analyzes the capable of using "Zi-based"in Thailand based on the Chinese curriculum and teaching mode of the Kasetsart University in Thailand. Finally,it analyzes the source and characteristics of the selected materials.Chapter Ⅲ, the teaching design is the main part of this thesis. It shows all the process of the teaching design in details under the guidance of the idea of Zi-based ",with Chinese Course (Volume Ⅲ) as an example. It includes how to create vocabulary and character of the text book,how to determine the core characters according to character frequency statistics and how to determine the expansion word range of the core characters.The second part describes the principles and methods carrying out the design. The third part demonstrates the specific steps of this design.Chapter IV is the assessment of the design and the recommendations of implementation. It provides four evaluation mathods to assess the effect of carrying out the design,such as Satellite radiation, Word expansion,Synonym Discrimination and Guess the word in the reading test. And then make four recommendations of Implemention,like Choose the correct object,focus on the objectivity of the process, the flexibility of the way and how to expand the idea of "Zi-based"outside the classroom.As the summary part,Chapter V of this thesis summarizes the focal point、the process and conclusions of the research.It also analyzes the inadequacies that exist in the thesis, and supply the problems could be researched further.
