With the rapid development of the information technology in the worldwide,which is a result of the progress in information science, computer begins to penetratedinto all aspects of subjects, such as graphic design. Due to some historical and politicalreasons, for a long time, the development of graphic design in China growed slowlyand therefore absorbed various merits of different oversea graphic design. From aglobal perspective, Europe, the U.S., Japan and Korea dominated and played a crucialrole as they have developed vivid characteristics of their own culture and made it amature system, which has a great influence of the contemporary graphic design inChina and eventually developed it a lot. As a result, some new graphic design artistsand their works have come up in the museum. But, a large number of useless imitationsand clones of overseas graphic design form ruined the combination between confucianculture and traditional creativity. In a sense, there is no or few Chinese elements andcharacteristics in their works. So, what we should face to do and is think back aboutthe methods of applying Chinese culture into our graphic design.Peking opera has been a art for more than200years. In1790, based in four majorAnhui opera,local opera in Peking integrated with it and last more than50years andfinally became Peking opera, which is the most influential opera in China. With itsdistinguishable performing form, it often represent Chinese opera, being called"theessence of Chinese art".Because of the long history of Chinese culture and the story of Peking opera, it iswell known by people all over the world. Based on the current status of Peking opera,the article summarize and apply the make-up technique,costume characteristic and thecultural nature it stands by in Peking opera character modeling in graphic design inorder to fulfill contemporary graphic design in China.
