Malaysia is a multi-racial, multicultural country with a population of27million people.Malays, Chinese and Indians are the major racial groups, comprising55%,25%and10%ofthe population. Out of the5.5million Chinese, some18%do not speak nor write the Chineselanguage. A large majority of Chinese is immersed in a complete Chinese language as mothertongue education and cultural system which has been in existence for185years. In year2006,Malaysia has followed the development of Asia economic; the government has started toimply Mandarin Learning in Government secondary schools. The target students are non-Chinese. Shanghai Jiaotong University-Global Hanyu and Culture Center (GHCC) hasestablished in February,2006. As the first established Confucius Institute in Malaysia, wehave yet to establish the research and investigation in details of its language teaching.Detailed report is formed about development and state of Chinese teaching of GHCC. Thereare total seven chapters for this paper including the introduction and conclusion. Chapter oneis the introduction for this research. Chapter two is written regarding the history and status ofChinese education in Malaysia. Chapter three is about the establishment background and thedevelopment of GHCC. It includes the introduction of the collaboration partners and the scaleof GHCC since it established. Chapter four is the report about the development of Mandarincourses and details report of each type of class. Chapter five is written about the teachingmaterials of GHCC and provided the analysis of it. Chapter six is written about the resourceof teaching team and the analysis of it. The final chapter is conclusion. This part is to state theachievements of GHCC and the existent problems of GHCC. Besides, it provides thesuggestions which are customized, constructive and operability for the operation of GHCC.
