| In learning a language, in addition to learning the structure, vocabulary, grammar andother aspects that we must manage to be proficient in, we also must understand the culture ofthe language itself. In the process of learning a language, particularly Mandarin, manystudents are unaware of the importance of Chinese culture, which in fact, may impact on thestudents’ language proficiency as well as pragmatic errors.Many researchers have conducted research on intercultural pragmatics, each of whichhas different perspective. Nevertheless, the study referring to the intercultural pragmaticsbetween Indonesian and Chinese are still scarce.The writer made not only students of semester5and7from the Department of ChineseLanguage and Culture in Bunda Mulia University but also30native Chinese speakers and30Indonesian non-Chinese learners as target of research. She carried out research oncomparison between Indonesian and Chinese pragmatics and provided the analyses so that notonly do readers mainly Mandarin language learners in Indonesia turn out to be knowledgeableof the difference and influence in cultural background between Indonesia and China, but theyfind out the strategy to learn the language effectively. In order for the readers to completelyunderstand the language, the writer provides personal opinion in the problem solving section.The writer expects that this study could be a reference to Mandarin language learningactivities, especially in the field of pragmatics in the future. |
