Language is the most important communicative tool in human society. The aim of theteaching of Chinese as a foreign language is to train the learners’ communicative abilities inChinese, especially the teaching of primary oral Chinese. At present, there are some problems, which will affect its effectiveness in the teaching of primary oral Chinese as a foreignlanguage in China. Such as the teaching is out of touch with the real needs, the status ofteachers and students are reverse, both theory and practice of the teaching are lacked, theteaching methods are single and the students’ individual character aren’t concerned much. Thecauses of above problems are obvious, for examples, the deviations are existed in teachingconcepts, present teaching methods need to be improved, the arrangement of teachingmaterials are not perfect, the students are lack of language environment and the students willalso impact themselves. In the response to these problems, the core concept of“student-centric” of constructivist learning theories provides the theoretical basis for solvingthem. Under the guidance of constructivist learning theory, the reforms of the teaching ofprimary oral Chinese as a foreign language will adhere to the following fundamentalprinciples,“students are subject and teachers lead”,“theories are the basement and practiceare the main part”,“classes are fundament and society is the guidance”. Through thevalidation of the specific class teaching practices, we can reform and improve the teaching ofChinese as a foreign language by following means: updating the teaching concept, changingthe traditional teaching mode, expanding the topics of teaching materials, improving thearrangement of current teaching materials, making an open teaching methods, creating oralcommunication environments, improving teachers’ quality and focusing on students’individual differences.
