Oral teaching is the emphasis and difficulty in primary Chinese teaching. For primaryoral Chinese teachers, whether can make beginners in the limited teaching time be relaxed,happy to learn the knowledge that they should master and know how to apply and expressthem, is an important sign to measure the success of their teaching. Appropriate and effectiveteaching design is the key of increasing the students’ learning interest, attracting students’conscious and active participation in class and making students learn well in a short time. Theprimary learners of Chinese Confucius Institute of Burundi University is a distinct regionalcharacteristic learning community. They are very interested in Chinese culture, have a strongChinese learning needs. At the invitation of Chinese Confucius Institute of Burundi University,the author was sent there by NOCFL to teach oral Chinese in March2013. In order to makemore effective and targeted teaching, the author made a present situation investigation ofprimary Chinese leaners of this school. According to the survey, combined with thecharacteristics of the learners and needs of teaching at the Burundi University, the authordesigned the teaching process of It’s My Treat Today. And based on those, the author putforward concrete suggestions on primary oral Chinese teaching of Chinese Confucius Instituteof Burundi University: On teaching content, should be combined with Burundi nationalconditions; On teaching method, should make more use of multimedia auxiliary teaching; Onteaching material use, should enrich the types and numbers of spoken language teachingmaterials.
