Study On The Primary Functional Spoken Teaching Material Of Chinese Language For Foreigners

With the rapid development of Chinese economy, teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage (abbr. TCFL) is becoming an important opening to spread the Chinesecultures all over the world. Under the recent situations of TCFL, it is necessary tomake some materials of TCFL, especially for the teaching and the disciplineconstruction. The teaching materials is the base of teaching Chinese in a class.The success of TCFL and the spreading of Chinese cultures is depending on thematerials to some degrees. A good teaching material should be student-centered, andhelpful for teachers. A good teaching material should help students effectively andfruitfully learn knowledges and language skills. This article thoroughly study theteaching material—《Developing Chinese》Primary Oral Teaching Material. It willbe better for the author if some of her advices becoming helpful for the teachingmaterial edition in the future.The whole article is divided into four parts as follow: The first part is the preface.It is about the reasons of choosing topic for the article. It chronologizes someresearches on teaching materials in this part. From1950s–1970s (Structure style) to1980s–1990s (Combination of Structure and function) and after1990s (Combinationof Structure-Function-Culture). The second part briefly shows the theory ofFunctional Teaching Approach and the use of this theory in teaching material edition.Including the theory, characteristics and the use of the theory. The third part analysisthe style in the edition of the book《Developing Chinese》. It includes three sections as following: choosing contents of the text, grammatical points and sentences, andthe exercises. The section of exercises pays more attention on pronunciation, grammarand communicational drills. The last part gives some suggestions for the makingteaching materials for TCFL.
