Yan Yuan,a well-known scholar in the early Qing Dynasty, leaving us the first impression that he is a practitioner. And he is a pioneer in our educational reformations. So he is praised warmly by the other contemporary scholars. In Yan Yuan’s world point of view,the nature of human being is to be good with the birth. And they can change and remould all things. In order to practice well, giving full play to our subjective dynamics should not be neglected.However, more and more Confucians particularly emphasis on Confucian Mind-Nature theory, instead of practical activity. Ethical practices tend to be concerned with improving our human beings after Confucius. Fortunately, Yan Yuan’s theory of practicing, which is ignored for so many years, is also inherited from Confucius. On the terms of the Efforts Theory, Yan Yuan opposes meditation practicing, dull reading and the practicing like Buddhism and Taoism. There are two reasons to think high of the practice of human beings. One is that practical activity can meet our material requisite, which can prevent from our evil desires.Another is that the subject of practice is man himself. Social development needs the support from people, and the development should stand for people, by people. And the fruits of the development should be shared by all people.The main part of the article discusses Yan Yuan’s theory of practice,which is about economy, politics, education,etc..On terms of economy, Yan Yuan regards agriculture as a top priority. He wanted to advocate Jing tian and water conservation project to promote the development of agriculture. Surprisingly, he has no objection on business. On terms of politics, he rethinks the feudal, recommendation,selection and castration. He drew a conclusion that they could be and should be turned to basis and to open a new road. From his point of view on terms of politics,"people-oriented" must be taken into consideration. In his view of education,education and practice must be closely integrated. If so, it can make people develop into all-round developed talents. For example, Zhangnan College, which contains all of his educational philosophy. Unfortunately, Zhangnan College had been destroyed by aflood. In addition, I put forward some new points of view on Yan Yuan’s theory of practice. Thus,I sort out the general context of Yan Yuan’s practical ideas. It is worth noting that I have elaborated the philosophical basis of the concept of practice and the philosophical basis of "people-oriented"...
