The Research Of Development Pattern About Global Cities Of China

On the wave of globalization and informatization, there are a number of global citiesspringing up which have the ability of control force. Global cities are the important nodesamong the network of global cities and have great influence on global economic, social andculture. The pattern of global cities is formed with a long term, also it is among continuousdevelopment and evolution. The development of global cities doesn t only have relationshipwith the rapid economic but also the continuously improvement of its position in worldeconomic. Since the reform and opening-up has been carried out, with the growth of rapideconomic and improvement of urbanization, China has become one of the fastest economicgrowing, greatest potential for economic development, one of the most dynamic regions in theworld. Nowadays, some of the cities have already played an important role in the complexglobal economic networks; we need to build global cities under the condition of economicenvironment at home and abroad urgently.On the macro background what had been said above, this paper studied the developmentof global cities of China. Through the analysis about the research situation of global cities, thedevelopment course of foreign global cities on the aspects of the spatial structure andcharacteristics of spatial distribution, the laws about the spatial development of global citieswere summarized. They could be the references to the analysis on global cities of China. Onthe basis above, this paper discussed the formation process of global cities of China;generalized the formation background and mechanism; dug on which cities were the globalcities of China and in future which would be in the global urban system. In addition, amongthe study on global cities of China, the function and the characteristics of spatial distributionis the key research.There were totally six chapters. The contents of each chapter were as follows:Chapter one: exordium. The background and the purpose of the research; the theoreticaland practical significance were clarified as well as the thinking and the methods of research.Chapter two: theory development of global cities. The related concept and the researchcourse of global cities were analyzed. Moreover, the literature review on global cities wassummarized.Chapter three: spatial structure and characteristics of spatial distribution. The spatialdevelopment stages of global cities were discussed, such as London, Paris, and Tokyo. Furthermore, the development course of foreign global cities and the characteristics of spatialdistribution were summarized.Chapter four: the formation background and mechanism of global cities of China. Itconcluded the formation background, location selection and mechanism.Chapter five: the function and spatial distribution of global cities of China. It discussedthe function classification and the characteristics of spatial distribution.Chapter six: concluding remarks. The main conclusions were summarized and explainthe shortcomings of this paper.
