A Comparative Study Of Chinese And Vietnamese Abbreviation

With the further development of China’s reform and opening-up, Vietnam’sinnovation and open to the outside, and the influence of the integration into theglobal economy, the economy, science and technology, culture have received rapiddevelopment China and Vietnam. In the fast development of this situation, thepeople maximum pursue the concise, fast, condensed language to improve workingefficiency and safe work hour, so there are lots of abbreviations in Chinese andVietnamese.The abbreviations play an increasingly important role in life nowadays, theyhave meet the people’s need in communication, and can use the economy methodto exchange the information and the idea, which can meet the people’s time-savingand reduces effort, convenient and efficient need when they use the language.Through the more and more frequent cultural and economy exchanges betweenChina and Vietnam, it’s necessary to research the abbreviation that have occur inChinese and Vietnamese from many aspect, which have certain theoretic meaningand practical significance.In this thesis, from the angles of contrastive linguistics and applied linguistics,first Chinese abbreviations and Vietnamese abbreviations are defined. Then findout the reason for the Chinese abbreviation and the Vietnamese abbreviation. Andthe formation of the Chinese abbreviation and the Vietnamese abbreviation areclassified and summed up, the common and the difference between the Chineseabbreviation and the Vietnamese abbreviation are analyzed. The end, to introducethe using status of the Chinese abbreviation and the Vietnamese abbreviation, putforward some principle to standard the Chinese abbreviation and the Vietnameseabbreviation. Besides, in this thesis, the difficulty in teaching about the Chineseabbreviation and the Vietnamese abbreviation also are proposed, and find out somemethod to solve it.
