This is an English-Chinese translation report on Rural Wealth Creation: Concepts, Strategies, and Measures. The source text is an economic research report written by senior Economist John Pender, agricultural economist Alexander Marre and financial scientist Richard Reeder. It is published on the United States Department of Agriculture’s official website:http://www.ers.usda.gov/. This project is conducted with reference to Functional Equivalence theory. The Functional Equivalence theory focuses on the functional equivalence between two languages rather than the rigid corresponding on words so as to equalize the reader’s understanding towards the translated version with that of the original reader to the original text. The translation project is divided into four chapters:Chapter One gives an overall introduction to the translation project, including the project background, project goal as well as the structure of the translation report. Chapter Two gives a detailed explanation of the Functional Equivalence theory and analyzes the language features of the source text. Chapter Three focuses on translation methods deployed in the project. Chapter Four summarizes the translation report by elaborating on some enlightenments of the translation process and unsolved problems in the project.
