Road is linear structure. Road alignment design is a main factor affecting traffic safety. While speed is the most direct response to linear change, so applying speed to evaluate road safety is safe and reliable, and transportation researchers often use speed as one linear evaluation index.The driving simulator that be applied on road traffic safety research becomes a scientific tool of the design department to study road traffic problems in laboratory under controlled conditions. Due to the advantages of driving simulators in the road traffic safety evaluation and the important position of operating speed, which we can obtain from driving simulation and use it to analysis and evaluate. However, we must verify the data that obtain from driving simulator and confirm that they are reliability and validity at first.Due to the advantages of driving simulators, and the important role of speed on the evaluation of road traffic safety, obtaining operating speed through driving simulator experiment, and taking the speed as an intermediary to analyze and evaluate road safety is a good choice. However, the reliability and validity of the experimental data obtained by the simulation experiments should be verified firstly.Through analysis on the study of classic speed forecasting models both at home and abroad, the widely used-Lamm model was chose as a standard model. And then a standard experimental field was designed to validate the speed of driving simulator experiment. Through the selected classic speed forecasting model, the forecast speed of the standard experimental field was calculated; the method of speed validation was explored--comparing and analyzing the forecast speed of standard experimental field and the speed of driving simulator, which as evaluation method of absolute validity and relative effectiveness of the speed of driving simulator experiment, thus providing a validation criterion for the validity of speed of driving simulator. The research driving simulator of Kunming University of Science and Technology was used to carry out application researches about validation standards of speed of driving simulator. The forecast speed trajectory curve and experimental speed trajectory curve of the standard experimental field were compared and analyzed; The medium driving simulation system was verified by the differences of the two speeds and two changing trends.
