Since the reform and opening up, Chinese economy and people’s livingstandards have been developed rapidly. Our country has speeded up the pace ofinfrastructure construction. The demand for quality and quantity of basiccompaction equipment has grown higher. Therefore, the impact compactiontechnology and the impact roller were introduced to our country in the1990s,and have been strongly extended and applied.In the process of impact roller construction, compaction wheels dragged bythe tractor roll forward. Their centroids do periodic motion in vertical direction.The rolling motion puts the wheels’ kinetic and potential energy into forwardand downward impact energy, and produces continuous compaction effect on thefoundation. The compaction wheel’s profilogram is comprised of threecorrection curves, similar to the regular triangle. The rolling process is morecomplex and difficult to use a mechanical method for accurate calculation, andthe impact roller’s force and motion in the work process is more difficult.Based on the virtual prototyping technology, the thesis used Pro/e to build3D model of the impact roller, and used the interface software Mechanism/Proto define simple constraints and transfer the model data, after that used ADAMSto define the complicated constraints and the initial conditions. So far the virtualprototype analysis model of the impact roller has been established. The thesisused ADAMS software to make dynamic analysis of the prototype model, andgot the movement of the impact roller in the starting process and in the regularworking process, and then scientifically analyzed the mechanism’s motion andforce of the impact roller.Because of the compaction wheel’s complex profile, this thesis analyzedtwo compaction periods of the roller wheel, got the changes of the compactionwheel’s motion and energy. The thesis calculated the wheel’s compaction energyand the impacting frequency by measurement method and theoretical mechanics.After that the thesis made a comparative study between the calculated resultsand the analysis of the software. The horizontal vibration is the critical factor that influence the popular useof impact roller, the roller’s damping equipment was scientifically introduced.The hydraulic cylinder and the energy accumulator were analyzed as a dampingspring. The parameters of two-way buffer spring and equivalent damping springwere discussed and analyzed, and received some valuable conclusions. Theseconclusions may help the attenuation vibration research, and can provide somereference for the engineering designers to optimize the structure parameters ofthe impact roller.
