With the continuous development of science and technology, degree ofautomation of industrial processes has been continually improved. The SCADA systemhas integrated the dispersed independent control units, and makes the whole productionprocess more efficient, it is widely used.As an important part of SCADA system, the technology of data communicationamong system modules continually develop, the OPC technology is an excellent resultof this process. It is standardized industrial data communication technology, which isdeveloped by the OPC foundation, which is established by several large processautomation solution providers around the world. The OPC technology makes eachhardware equip of control system and the product of application software vendorsrealized the seamless integration:“As long as it is accord with OPC standard product, itcan access to the system without modified”, it makes the openness of the control systemgreatly improves.Power distribution network provides efficient and clean energy for all kinds ofproduction units, plays an important role in the national economic activity. Theapplication of the OPC technology in power distribution network is good for theascension of the whole system performance. In the distribution network monitoring,because of the large quantity and wide distribution characteristics of control terminals,they widely use the Ethernet access way to access system. The characteristics ofEthernet datagram asynchronous transfer set a new request to the development of powerdistribution network monitoring data communication module. Researching thetechnology of integrating the OPC technology and Ethernet data communicationtogether, designing and developing the OPC data access server for power distributionmonitoring have great significance.This paper discusses the development and significance of OPC technology first,deeply researches the foundation of OPC technology: COM technology and OPC DA3.0specifications. And on this basis, design and develop the OPC data access server forpower distribution monitoring, describe the process detailed. At last, test, analysis and summarize the development results.
