Branch Of China Unicom Huangshan City Radio And Television Fixed Network Computer Room Relocation Project Progress Management Research

Project Management is a method developed in1960s. Since1970s, as an important division of management science, project management has provided effective ways and tools for the project’s planning, organizing, executing and controlling, and has attracted extensive attention, making great contribution to the practice of management.On January5,2009, China Unicom and CNC (China Network Communications Corporation) were merged into the China United Network Communications Group Co., Ltd. The former Anhui Netcom rented most of its core computer room in its infancy, and after the merger and years of development, many branches have built their own computer room. With the reorganization the telecom, network integration is proceeding smoothly. To save cost and promote efficiency, the relocation of the computer room has become one of the most important tasks in operations and maintenance.The subject of the study in this paper is the relocation project of core computer room of the broadcast and TV fixed network, which is developed by China Unicom Huangshan Branch. Combining with measures taken by Huangshan Branch and theoretical knowledge on project management, many tools are used such as WBS (Work Breakdown Structures), Gantt Chart, Network Diagram and so on, which aims to manage and optimize the relocation project schedule. Based on the previous studies and the author’s personal working experience, the measures of project schedule management are discussed. Through the application of the project schedule management theory and methods, effective schedule control has been realized in practice, achieving good results, which can be used as reference for the follow-up work and other similar projects. Finally assessment and individual advice about the effect, difficulty and problem of the project is given.
