The Regional Characteristic Of Modern Historic Buildings And Regeneration

At present, it is no doubt that modern historic buildings from all over the world have had positive effects on their urban construction and development, but in some kind of urban structure and historical context, historical buildings are more like architectural pattern and commercial vehicle. Can historical buildings have more real conversation with cities in the contemporary context?Based on how modern historic buildings rebirth in contemporary urban context as a starting point, this paper compared and analyzed a variety of cases and theory about protection and reuse of historical building at home and abroad, to establish more intimate contact between urban entity and colonial architecture. This contact should not be random or isolated; it should be more public and time. This contact ensures people living in cities can always step in to and make deep communication with historic buildings, so that make historic buildings rebirth in contemporary urban context.First, this paper briefly introduced the general situation of the modern colonial architecture and colonial buildings in Yantai. which summed up that the Yantai colonial architecture had bright regional and cultural characteristics, and pointed out that this kind of architecture had an important practical significance on contemporary urban design.Secondly, based on the protection theories of contemporary advanced historical buildi ngsenumerated and analysed the typical cases at home and abroad, and summarized th e design methods.Finally, this paper made brief design combining these strategies with two slices of colonial buildings existing in Yantai, which involves building protection strategy, building reconstruction strategy, how to drive the design of surrounding cities strategy and so on. in order to make some pioneering thinking for having more closer conversation between Yantai and even the whole country’s existing modern historic buildings and urban cities.
