Based on modern embedded system technology, information technology andautomatic control technology, the load monitor is one system that can collect, measure andmonitoring the power load. Aiming at the development of semiconductor technology aswell as the latest national grid standards, we has developed a new load monitor with highprecision, flexible functionality and rich communication interfaces.On the side of the hardware, we use the latest high performance32-bit embeddedSOC LM3S9B96as the micro control unit of our system. To improve the efficiency andstability of the system, we separate measurement and control of the system by usinghigh-precision energy measurement chip ADE7878provided by ADI. To communicatewith other equipment, our system is equipped with RS232and RS485bus.With the help ofGPRS module made by MC52i, our system can report data to the server. In this way, loadmonitoring can be realized throughout the region.On the software side, the using of real-time operating system SAFERTOS helps usmake off several complex tasks according to the demand of load monitor which isscheduled and synced well. On the purpose of simple maintenance, we realizeremote code update with the help of GRPS.In order to store the grid data, we also design a database based on NOR FLASH.Toextend the lifetime of FLASH and improve the efficiency of reading and writing operations,we define the sectors of NOR FLASH.We also design a new reactive power compensation algorithm, which can dynamicallygenerate VQC solution based on the existing capacitor bank to adapt various situations. Toachieve this aim, we use the dynamic programming algorithm.Now we have developed the prototype of load monitor. After the testing and runningon the scene, it is up to the standard an always works well.
