The Jing Dian Shi Wen by Lu Deming is a book of pronunciation and meaning compiling the14classics before the Tang dynasty and featuring variants revision and analysis, of which the Mao Shi Yin Yi cites various different viewpoints, presents detailed summary of variants in Shi Jing and provides rich historical materials for the research on variants in Shi Jing.In this paper, aiming to enrich the research on variants in Shi Jing, we present exhaustive statistics of the variants of the Jing Dian Shi Wen·Mao Shi Yin Yi and further explore both the variants and the annotation terminologies.The rest of the paper is organized as follows. In Chapter1, we give an overview of Lu Deming and his Jing Dian Shi Wen. In Chapter2, we formulate the concept of variants and summarize previous research on variants in Shi Jing. The main body of this paper lies in Chapter3, which illustrates the categorized research on variants in Mao Shi Yin Yi and further explore variants in Mao Shi Yin Yi from three different point of views:the variant characters(異體字), the borrowed graphs(通假字) and the ancient and modern graphs(古今字). We conclude the annotation terminologies used in Jing Dian Shi Wen·Mao Shi Yin Yi in Chapter4.
