In this paper, the last two decades of emerging language researchmethods the Semantic Map Model is to study the ancientChinese speculative sentence including Archaic Chinese and MiddleAncient Chinese. The Semantic Map Model is a commonly usedmethod for semantic analysis in typology. We draw on previousresearch, and use the relevant theory of grammaticalization、cognitivelinguistics and pragmatics, which are to study the morphologicalmarkers of the speculative sentence of Archaic Chinese and MiddleAncient Chinese. The morphological markers are speculative words.Thuswe should study the speculative sentence with speculative markers ofAncient Chinese, and then use the Semantic Map Model to look for thecommon development aspects of the same type of speculativewords. We do these, just because we will try to identify the evolution lawof one type of speculative words and make theoretical explanation forthe law. This thesis can be divided into five chapters.Chapter1introduces the object of study significance of choosing this topic, theanterior research fruit of other people for speculative sentence and theSemantic Map Model. we will explain the method and theory anddiscourses of language materials. Chapter2classifies Ancient Chinesespeculative words and identify the evolutionary path, which is to look forthe direct or indirect relationship between the speculation and othersemantic functions.Chapter3chooses studies some conjectural wordsof Ancient Chinese to study, including conjectural adverbs “jiang(将)”、“po(颇)”and conjectural constructions “de wu hu(得无乎)”、“wu nai hu(无乃乎)”.Chapter4investigates some problemsrelated to speculation on the basis of chapter2and chapter3.This chapter includes these content: the Semantic Map Model’s Anglebetween the speculation and other semantic functions、the reasons ofthe evolving relationship between speculation and other semanticfunctions and effects of this paper.Chapter5summarizes the maincontents and conclusions of this thesis. These studies of the paper will give us a more comprehensiveunderstanding and in-depth cognition for the Speculative Sentenceand the Semantic Map Model.
