In the rapid development of modern society, the external world where we live has drastic changes. the severe changes shock modern people who can not see their inner world with own eyes. The social relations between man and man are becoming indifferent. The traditional social relation, family relation, ethic relations are impacted and doubted. As a contemporary film session and even the world cinema’s most original and unique style to create one of the film director Tsai Ming-liang is keen to capture the loneliness and emptiness of the modern mind, to give modernity push translation. There is no clear story context, there is no soothing, romantic music, there is no strong dramatic conflict in the role of continuous long shot documentary-style location sound recording, time and space in the slow, interminable drama figures have been alienated lonely freeze in the dark, dank isolated urban space. Tsai Ming-liang’s unique cinematic language, we present an alienated, lonely, epic theater-like post-modern time and space, from our glimpse of another self projected on our own.Chapter one is an analysis of Ming-Liang Tsai’s works and they are the theory sources of Post modern theory. Explore the meaning of Post-modern in movies from Post modern theory.Chapter two analyzes the image elements of modern space and time inMing-Liang Tsai’s movies. The body structures of movies constitute the image elements of movies. Every scattered scene, characters, and symbols are independent in the movies ofMing-Liang Tsai.I will talk about fragment type of post-modern from three aspects, which is scene, characters, important symbols. Chapter three, studies the movie body, discuss post-modern of movie time, non-dramatized narrative features, the utilize long shots and documentary sound elements.Chapter fourth combines his graduate work<<half underground>> of Tsai Ming-Liang film postmodern experience, from the story script writing, topic, narrative way, actor and other creative process in all aspects, with Tsai Ming-Liang’s " Post-modernity" perspective on the story of this era, at the ruins, city, family and character’s mind.
