The influence of culture on individual psychology and behavior is being attachedmore and more importance to psychological research. In recent years, some Chineseresearchers have taken "zhongyong-thinking" as a typical thinking-style among Chinese:to accommodate one’s cognitive processes to his purpose, to help in making decision toachieve the target of action. Zhongyong-thinking have remarkable influence onChinese’s view of emotion, in the book named as <zhongyong> in which there aresaying” ZHONG means the emotion has not yet take place, HE means that emotionshave been taken in a harmonious way” what has shown is zhongyong’s view of emotion.The core of perception of Zhongyong is "yin-yang transition”, which has taken toaccommodate self-harmony to the needs of environment as life goals, thus including thesense of worth and belief; zhongyong-thinking is in everyday life, manifest insituations of interpersonal communication that reflecting clues of circumstances with adiverse ways of thinking, in order to make all in harmony.In this paper, author tried to probe into the effects of zhongyong-thinking inemotion and its regulation, to find out the practical mechanism in emotion regulations,thus by creating a situation which involves interpersonal communication to study ifthere are differences between the higher level of zhongyong and the lower ones. Forthese purpose, author collected data by questionnaire and experiment, by using theconception of moderation and mediation to analysis the relationship betweenzhongyong-thinking and emotion and its regulations. Finally, this study explored thedifferent zhongyong-thinking degree of individual in emotion regulations and response.The first result shows that there are moderation effects of zhongyong-thinkingbetween emotion regulations and its later consequences. Between expressivesuppression and negative affection and EPQ-N, zhongyong-thinking have been a role ofnegative moderation. Between cognitive reappraisal and positive expressivity andimpulse strength, zhongyong-thinking played a role of positive moderation.The second result shows that:(1)there is a middlingly positive correlation betweencognitive reappraisal and zhongyong-thinking, both of correlated significantly with emotional experience and expressivity(2) cognitive reappraisal negatively predictedNA,in which zhongyong-thinking acted as a fully mediator(3)zhongyong-thinking canpartially mediate the negative prediction of cognitive reappraisal on PA and positiveemotional expressivity. These results showed that cognitive reappraisal may has aneffectively regulation on emotion through zhongyong-thinking.At last, the result shows that there is fewer response among those people who havehigh level of zhongyong-thinking; but will increase positive emotional expressivity ininteraction situation. Interpersonal communication can affect the function of zhongyongthinking on emotion, reducing the negative reaction and increasing the positiveemotional expressivity.
