In the practice of domestic teaching Chinese to non-Chinese speakers, the cultural cultivation for CSL (Chinese as a Second Languag) students is very in short. Taking Shaanxi Normal Unviersity for example, the explanation and teaching of Chinese linguistic points have taken most teaching points in the comprehensive reading, oral Chinese and listening courses. The use of sentence pattern is much more taught to the students than the culture knowledge in the writing course which is closely related to culture. Of course the students have some culture and literature courses, but these courses are mostly aiming at training the students’reading capabilities and could not really improve the students’recognizing sense towards culture which could reversely promote Chinese learning. Therefore, focusing on the culture education in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language is very deeply meaningful to later Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The connotation and extension of Culture Intelligence concept firstly put forth by Peterson would also provide stronger theory support to the culture education in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in the cross cultural environment. According to the Culture Intelligence theory firstly put forth by Peterson, the learning, living and working under the non-mother tongue cultural environment would be all influenced by the Culture Intelligence. People who have high Culture Intelligence could adapt to the environment with a relative faster speed when entering one fresh culture environment different from that in the motherland, and they could have splendid performances in the learning and working areas in the environment. However, the people with low Culture Intelligence would have strong maladjustment sense when entering a fresh culture environment and could not integrate into the fresh culture well, and therefore, they would make relatively not so good performance in learning and working as those who have high Culture Intelligence in such an environment. Specifically for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, the Culture Intelligence would have relationships with the effects for the foreign students to learn Chinese to a certain extent. As one type of intelligence cultivated in the postnatal period, the Culture Intelligence of one would be heavily influenced by his received education and the environment in which he locates. However, based on the practice of Teaching Chinese to non-Chinese Speakers in Shaanxi Normal University, the teachers engaging in this area all over-focus the teaching of basic Chinese knowledge on class but do not pay attention to the cultivation of the culture spirit and Culture Intelligence for the students, which could reflect the similar problems in the practice of domestic Teaching Chinese to non-Chinese Speakers. Such a situation could make the students have not high positivity to learn Chinese, unable to integrate to the local community and culture, and gain slow effects for learning Chinese.Therefore, research on the accurate relation between the present condition of cultural education in domestic Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and the effects for foreign students to learn Chinese would efficiently supply suggestions to the area concerning cultural education in domestic Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and could promote the long-term development in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The international important index-Culture Index for researching the employees in the cross-cultural work in the business area has provided deep theory support to such a research. The Culture Intelligence is closely related to the culture education, and could directly promote the performance of the employees. When applied into the area of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, the Culture Intelligence could also produce such effects. This thesis would firstly discuss the concept, putting forth and value of Culture Intelligence concept. After that, it will discuss the present condition of domestic Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and the lack of culture elements thereof in three areas of teachers’condition, teaching condition and students’condition. Finally, it will utilize the Culture Intelligence theory to put forth suggestions in the areas of teachers’capabilities, textbook and teaching process and students’Culture Intelligence cultivation standard.
