Thai Chinese Preschool Chinese Character Teaching Research

3-6years old Chinese-Thailand kids in the kindergarten mainly have no contactwith Chinese before they enter the kindergarten, naturally with no primitiveaccumulation of Chinese characters and the spoken Chinese accumulation. Therefore,The Chinese character teaching for Chinese-Thailand kids has particularity.This paper based on the investigation and analysis of the kids’ Chinesebackground, the kids’ Characters ability, as well as the literacy characteristics, triesto make a List of Frequently Used Characters for kids and Chinese characterteaching methods.This paper adopts the method of statistic analysis, and conducts a qualitativeanalysis on the five kinds of Chinese corpus, which are the words list for overseasChinese’ character teaching, high frequency word table for domestic speakers, thewords lists for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the word list of Chinesesoftware for kids, as well as the spoken words list from Chinese-Thailand kids. Thispaper attempts to establish EXCEL database, with the establishment of filterconditions Shared and frequency, selects a List of Frequently Used Characters forkids, and discusses Chinese characters teaching method for those screened words.Firstly, this paper makes an introduction of the background, motivation andsignificance of the study, the feasibility and necessity of Chinese characters teachingChinese-Thailand kids’, as well as its nature. Secondly, it mainly makes theinvestigation and analysis of the Chinese background, the ability of studying Chinesecharacters and the literacy characteristics of the kids. Thirdly, it mainly makes anintroduction of the optimization on Frequently Used Characters for kids, from theperspectives of characters-building ability, word formation ability, and wordfrequency. Fourthly, it discusses the literacy methods and the specific characterslesson plans on the screened words.
