China’s high speed development of economy and the promotion of international status bring the wave of global Chinese language learning. In order to promote the culture communication between China and other countries in the world, also to fulfill the requirement of Chinese teacher overseas, many Chinese teachers go abroad to teach. It’s honored for the writer to have an opportunity to be a Chinese teacher in a college in Korea. There is a long history between Korea and China. The association and cooperation between the two countries are developing rapidly since the year1992when the two countries established diplomatic relations officially. Nowadays, Chinese has become the most popular foreign language in Korea except English. Korea has a large number in the students who went to China for learning language or culture. Teaching Chinese in Korea is very different from internal situation. First, the lack of language environment reduces the chances for students to practice speaking Chinese. Second, compared to the students who study and live in China actively, the students in Korea have lower interest and motivation in learning Chinese. Besides, the college circumstance, teaching concept and method abroad are also different. Teachers have to consider all of these factors.Modern Chinese language teaching emphasizes the importance of arousing students’interest and cultivating their motivation on study. Students should be the center of class, and they should own more time in the class. Especially in oral Chinese classes, the teachers should explain less, and let students practice more. They should set up scenes and provide chances for students to communicate in Chinese as much as they can. This article is based on the interrelated theories of educational psychology and linguistics, combines with the writer’s research on plenty of books and documents, observation of class and practice in teaching Chinese. The contents of this paper is about the significance of game teaching theory and practice, the principles of use game teaching method, some factors teacher should pay attention to, the detail of using game teaching method, reflection on the game teaching and development of game teaching. We hope that students can have interest and motivation in Chinese language study, and participate in class activities on their own initiative by game teaching method. As a result, students in an atmosphere which is full of comfort, happiness and freedom can master the skill of using Chinese to communicate with each other.This article includes four parts. The first chapter is a foreword, and contains two sections. The first section is a research summary of game teaching in internal China and overseas, game teaching in Chinese language teaching. The second section is about the necessity and possibility of using game teaching. The second chapter discusses the theories this paper is based on, including interest and study motivation in educational psychology, second language learning theory and communication theory in linguistics. The third chapter discusses the definition of game teaching, the characteristics of game teaching, the principles when using game teaching and the details of using game teaching. The last chapter summarizes the functions of game teaching method, the reflection on the game teaching and development of game teaching.
