Since nineteen seventies, the Chinese and Japanese language researchers brought up theconcept of “Chinese-Japanese homographs” and began to do the research. For thegeographical reasons, China and Japan have a lot in common in language、custom、behaviormethod and so on. However, there are different cultures between different countries. Owingto the fact that both Chinese and Japanese use Chinese characters, Chinese-Japanesehomographs in the one hand provide convenience in Chinese vocabulary learning, in theother hand, it also bring confusion to students. So Chinese-Japanese homographs play animportant role in learning Chinese vocabularies.This paper sum up on the basis of previous studies, integrate the theoretical results, givethe definition of Chinese-Japanese homographs, and its research range. Briefly described theChinese-Japanese homographs formation background,make comparison from the shape、meaning and grammatical function three aspects of Chinese-Japanese homographs. On thisbasis, classified the error types of homographs, and proved with examples. This paper alsoanalyzed the cause of the errors which Japanese students made in learning Chinese-Japanesehomographs. Compared with the European and American students, how to work out thespecial strategy for Japanese students, is this paper’s research topic too. On this basis, putforward some teaching suggestions like:Stimulating the students’ learning; Weaken theconsciousness of Chinese-Japanese homographs; Improve the teachers’ quality; Improve theteaching methods; Make standard of the textbook and reference books and so on. Hoping toprovide a reference basis for the future Chinese vocabulary teaching.
