Gaetano Donizetti is a composer in the Italian early romanticism period. He andGiovanni Ruffini adapted Angelo Anelli’s libretto, Ser Marc’Antonio, for the operaDon pasquale, which was quite relaxed and humorous and became a model of operabuffa. As the connecting link between Gioachino Antonio Rossini and Giuseppe Verdifor musical creations, he made a great art contribution to the development of comicopera. Based on the artistic characteristics of Donizetti, this thesis mainly analyzedthe aria of heroine Norina in Don pasquale, as was a typical example in bel cantoresearches.This paper consists of six parts. The introduction demonstrates the significance ofthis essay, the research review and research methods. The first chapter introduces thelife of Gaetano Donizetti and the artistic feature of opera creation. The second chapterstudies the music text of Don pasquale. The third chapter analyzes the heroine’scharacteristic of this opera,characters of soprano Norina’s voice part and timbre, andthree typical parts. The fourth chapter demonstrates the musical style of GaetanoDonizetti’s opera works, the feelings of interpreting Norina and the comparison oftwo different interpreting versions. The last chapter makes a conclusion of the heroineNorina.
