The Existing Problems And Countermeasures Of Chinese Household Registration System

The current household registration system in China is the product of a particulartime. During the planned economy, it played a very important role in the managementof the internal order of our nation, the development of economy and the stability of thesociety. However, with the country’s prosperity and the improvement of the era, thetwo-dimension household registration system could no longer effectively adapt to thedevelopment of economic society. The reason is that, to some degree, it had caused aseries of social problems, which needed to beposed on the agenda urgently. Therefore, in order to match with the progress ofthe age and the development of the society, it’s necessary for our country to reform thehousehold registration system step by step. Based on the theory of the householdregistration system, this paper discusses the formation of the household registrationsystem, pointing out the existing problems of the household registration system. Itdraws on foreign system on household registration and proposes correspondingrecommendations on the reform of China’s household registration system.This paper is mainly divided into five parts.The first part analyzes the basic conception and the theoretical basis of householdsystem. It gives a brief introduction of the conception of accounts, householdregistration and household registration system. It gives an explanation of Marx andLenin’s idea on the population movement and Marxist theory of household registrationin Chinese style.The second part focuses on the formation and features of the household system.Briefly speaking, the formation of the Chinese household registration system is dividedinto three periods. Through the introduction of these three periods, it illustrates the tough and long formation of household registration system. What’s more, it mentionsthe three main features of household registration system in China, revealing theproperty and essence of household registration system.The third part mainly analyzes the existing problems of household registrationsystem and identifies the reasons.The fourth part gives a brief analysis of the current status of foreign populationmanagement, providing insights into reforming household registration system for ournation.The fifth part is the most important section in this paper. It proposes basicprinciples of the reformation in household registration system and specific measuresto build Chinese household registration system.
