With the end of the Cold War, the disintegration of the bipolar pattern,U.S.policy toward the DPRK from a single military confrontation to the full range ofpolitical influence, cultural penetration, the transformation of economic sanctions.Despite its repeated claim to want to maintain peace on the Korean peninsula, but theUS-DPRK relations is no real improvement. During this period, the president of theU.S. foreign policy-making decision-making factors further weakened, and theCongress coming to the fore. US-DPRK relations, the present and the future role ofthe U.S. Congress on policy toward the DPRK is an important factor. This articlefrom the point of view to study the role of the U.S. Congress on policy toward theDPRK and its influencing factors, so as to assess the future of US-DPRK relations tohelp.The first part of the historical review of the role of the U.S. Congress on theNorth Korean issue, can be divided into three periods, namely, as a period ofconfrontation of the impact of coordination with the Administration. And summed up after the Cold War, why these threeways to influence the direction of US-DPRK relations.Part V summarizes the study of this problem has practical significance, as well aslong-term significance. From the Congress point of view the development of theNorth Korean issue, on the one hand, to provide new ideas for the solution to theproblem of the Korean Peninsula. On the other hand, a reference to the exchangesbetween China and the United States, as well as cooperation in addressing regionalproblems.In short, by studying the role of the U.S. Congress in policy toward the DPRK, wecan look at U.S. foreign policy from a new angle to explain the American diplomatichistory of why the complex and changeable features. Provides a new referencedirection for future assessment of the trend of U.S. diplomacy, and developappropriate countermeasures.
