Currently, most children can grow up healthily and happily in their family.However, there are such a special groups of children in the society—orphans anddisabled children groups. They are abandoned by their parents because they aresuffered from difficult rehabilitation of the physically disabled, mentally retarded orother severe serious diseases difficult to cure, or due to natural disasters, unpredictableaccident. Understand the author’s field surveys and access to relevant information,most of the orphans and disabled children are placed in the orphanage focus onparenting mainly because of their special status and age.In early period, child welfare adoption of orphans and disabled children mainlyfocus on parenting and health care, so they can receive basic life care. However, withthe progress of social civilization, the functions of the Children’s Welfare Institutehave changed. The upbringing of orphans and disabled children model has changedfrom providing the simple life care to meet the full range of care, rehabilitation andeducation. Thus, this requires the staff of the Children’s Welfare Institute is not onlyresponsible for the daily lives of orphans and disabled children, but also have to takethe responsibilities of their rehabilitation and special education.Whether for the purpose of the progress of society, or the orphans and disabledchildren’s development, education must be in a pivotal position. Education is thefundamental rights of all the citizens. Providing equal educational opportunities fororphans and disabled children is an important means of social equality, it can alsoreflects the social humane care for this vulnerable group in the society.This article aims to analyze the current characteristics of orphans and disabledchildren’s needs and the actual situation of their education, so as to find a new footholdintroducing the social work methods to the education of orphans and disabled children,and point out some problems in the education of orphans and disabled children. Firstly, I collected the first-hand information to evaluate the characteristics of the orphans anddisabled children’s demands; by this way I learned that the orphans and disabledchildren mainly desire family education and teachers’ recognize. Then, I analyze theproblem from the view of the lack of family guidance, the teacher’s attention, theprofessional standards of nursing, welfare, and environment to resolve the educationproblem of orphans and disabled children. Finally, from social work perspectiveseeking the way to solve the orphans and disabled children’s education problem.Using the two traditional social work methods, the casework and group work method,to solve the various problems encountered by the orphans and disabled children. Socialworkers provide professional guidance and training for foster families, parents andcaregivers to provide. Social workers believe that everyone is valuable. There isuntapped potential in the orphans and disabled children expecting us to discover.Social workers follow the principle of maximizing the interests of the orphans anddisabled children. From initiating the government to make reasonable suggestions inthe perspective of social welfare policy, advocating the community gave love to theorphans and disabled children, hoping for suitable education methods for disabledchildren.I believe that the introduction of social work theories and methods into the studyof groups of disabled children has significant academic value. At the same time,provide orphans and disabled children the empirical basis on social welfare policy todevelop, so as to conducive to the orphans and disabled children better and morecomprehensive development.
