Study Of Urban Residents’ Social Strata Consciousness

Based on a2011sampling survey data (n=1752) collected in Nanjing, Suzhou, Lianyungang, Jiangsu, PRC, this paper explores people’s strata consciousness in urban China during the transformation era. Findings from statistical analysis suggest that most urban residents have clear perception of social stratification, which is decided not only by economic dimension, but also by psychology factors and the identifications. Sometimes, based on the effect of economic dimension, psychology factors and identifications together, the urban residents’social strata consciousness has a significant impact in people’s social attitude and behavior.
