With the further development of economic globalization and the objective requirements of economic development in China, promoting information technology is the main task of China’s economic construction and reform in the first20years of this century. As an important part of administrative system, E-Government is an important tool for improving government efficiency and serves the people. Promoting e-democracy in China can effectively enhance the city’s comprehensive competitiveness.China’s E-Government can be traced to1990s, and has played a positive role in the20years of development process:It has drived changes in the pattern of urban competition, improved the business environment of the city, created a larger industrial space for the city and effectively improved the competitiveness of the city. However, due to the influence of many reasons, through the development of e-government to enhance the competitiveness of cities still faces many problems,such as low level of resource sharing,pool innovation capacity and environment needs to be improved. In respond to these problems, the present thesis conducts theoretical analysis and empirical research on the E-Government and city competitiveness.Through thoroughly studying relevant theories of E-Government and city competitiveness. Summerizing excellent experience and combining China’s distinctive characteristics, the present thesis arrives at the conclusion that various problems facting can be soloved and City competitiveness can be strengthened with its footing on the close relationship between E-Government and City competitiveness.Through the discussion of mutual promotion between E-Government and city competitiveness to meet the needs of the public, and the harmonious society can be achieved.
