A Constructivist Perspective On Security Cooperation Between China And The Association Of Southeast Asian Nation

ASEAN is the largest international organization with a regionalcooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. ASEAN’s achievements arebrilliant after40years of development. The ASEAN EconomicCommunity has achieved an initial success and China ASEAN Free TradeArea became the Free Trade Zone which covered the most populous. Onthe contrary, the ASEAN Security Community development slowly, andthe security cooperation between China and the ASEAN is not smooth.Therefore to strengthen China and ASEAN on security cooperation,settlement of disputes peaceful, easing regional tensions within the regionand creating lasting peace and security system is a very importantproblem.ASEAN and China are Geographical proximity and economy、culture exchange is increasing, objective dependence deepening gradually.And because both faced the pressure of economic development andstability of the country，they strengthen the sense of common destiny,awareness and recognition in Asia. This provided the chances for theregional security cooperation. In the late20ths century, SocialConstructivism has appeared and become main one of Westerninternational relations theory which provides a new angle of view andmethod to international relations research. This article attempts from theSocial Constructivism to study the China and ASEAN security cooperation. This paper introduces the Social Constructivism aboutinternational security cooperation at first, and analysis the history, currentsituation and dilemma of security cooperation between China andASEAN. Based on the Social Constructivism, the chapter analysis thechanges of the security cooperation system between China and ASEAN,the internalization culture of Locke anarchy, the tendency of the interestaccordance. Accordingly, this paper proposes the framework of the Chinaand ASEAN security cooperation and the prospect of East Asia securitycommunity.
