New recruits are soldiers in the army less than a year. Recruits mental health maintenance has been subject to the attention of the military leadership, but because of the special nature of the recruits, the recruits groups still belong to the psychological problems of high-risk population. Emotional intelligence and mental health, coping styles are closely related. When the individual has a higher emotional ability, they choose positive coping styles to deal with the problem, maintaining physical and mental health. The invention on emotional intelligence of new recruits,both contribute to help the army recruits adapt to military life, as soon as possible to make it fully their individual capacities. Because just a few related research, so this study is very meaningful. Nowadays,Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is highly effective and widely used in our society. Through cognitive-behavioral intervention techniques to change people’s irrational ideas and views, to adjust the negative emotions and behavior, to overcome the psychological hoof obstacle, thereby promoting physical and mental health as a treatment technology. A large number of control studies confirmed that it is effectively and quickly effect.This study attempts to Positive Psychology and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, combined with the actual situation of the new recruits, developed into a workable emotional intelligence upgrading courses in order to improve the emotional intelligence of new recruits. In the research the subjects(n=100) were in two classes: Class A(intervention)and Class B (on intervention). Class A is the experimental class taken part in emotional intelligence train course while Class B is the control class with traditional way. Our experiment lasted twelve weeks. During the process of the experiment, the author carried out questionnaires, pretest and post-test.After the experiment, the students in the experiment class enhance their emotional intelligence and show more efficacies on emotional perception, emotional self-control. And the overall level of mental health was improved, especially in three aspects of the obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, and hostility.
