Research On Social Construction Thought Of British Utopian Socialists

Harmonious society, free and comprehensive development of human are always dreams human striving for. Approach to those dreams is social construction. Britain is the first industrialized country in the world, and also the birthplace of Utopian socialism. British Utopian Socialists created much social construction thought when developing Utopian Socialism based on criticizing to capitalism and exploring how to solve problems caused by capitalism. Studying on British social construction thought in Utopian socialists’aims to explore the sources of social construction thought in Marxism, which would provide theoretical support for current social construction with Chinese characteristics, and also reference value to practice.In this thesis, from an aspect of Sociological and Ideological History, the author studied social construction thought of representatives in Britain-Thomas More, Gerrard Winstanley, Robert Owen. William Thompson. John Gray and GrayJ-F. Theoretical source, development process, content, characteristics and historical status of their thought about social construction are also studied. Key elements of this paper are listed as below:(1)Social organization construction, including the marriage and family building and communities building;(2)Social undertakings construction, including education, employment, income distribution, health and social welfare construction;(3) The principle of social construction-fairness and justice;(4)The goals of social construction are achieving the objectives of harmonious society, free and comprehensive development of human.These four aspects constituted the theoretical frame of social construction thought of British Utopian socialism.Upon this study, the author found that there is no clear concept of social construction in British Utopian socialism, but rich thought about social construction can be discovered in their discussion of building ideal society of the future. Comprehension and mastery to thought of British Utopian socialism are helpful and significant important for broadening area of study on theory system of Utopian socialism, accelerating current social construction, and constructing harmonious society and realization of human free comprehensive development.
