As the acceleration of the urbanization in China and the transformation of the movement of migrant people from individuals’level to families" scale, more and more migrant children are flocking into cities with their parents, studying and living in the unfamiliar environment.Though they are living in cities, their registered permanent residences are still kept in the birthplaces, which resulted in a series of problems such as educational inequalities, weak social supports, loss of belongingness, schooling incontinuities and social integration difficulties. These children, actually, are in the critical period of physical and psychological development as well as the beginning level of socialization. Therefore, whether these youngsters could be well adaptable to urban life and acquire a social integration would have a direct impact on their socialization and even the lifetime development.Based on the existing documents, this essay focused on the problem of migrant children’s social integration from semi structured interviews with these kids of seven migrant families who live in H county in L district, Shenzhen. With the in-depth knowledge of the social recognition in terms of migrant children’s identity acknowledgement, schooling adaptability, community integration, social supports, family’s future plans, etc., the essay concluded that three factors, which are social policies, environment and intergenerational transition, mainly contributed to these children’s difficulties of acquiring social integration.Via analyzing relevant reasons, the essay proposed measures and advice on improving the social recognition for migrant children from the aspects of social policies, social work intervention, schools and communities, focusing on the example of such, the project of "Migrant Children’s Career Development and Support Plan" which is a typical social work intervention launched by XS, a public welfare organization, to the these children in H county, elaborated the remarkable achievements and important enlightenments of social work interventions to improve the social recognition of migrant children, which bridges the gap between the theories and the practices of the research for problems of migrant children.
