Lenin's National Self-determination Thought Research

Lenin’s thought of "National Self-determination Right" was known as one of the greatest ideological theories in20th, which not only became a reality in early twentieth century in The Soviet Union but also gradually recognized widely by international community. It has already provided a favorable reference for multinational states to handle their national problems.However, there is no doubt that Lenin’s thought of "National Self-determination Right" always is a controversial topic constantly challenged and opposed. After the Cold War, with the surging of new nationalism movement, the principle of "National Self-determination Right" was distorted and abused by ethnic separatists who caused serious damages to peaceful development within countries and in the international community. Ethnic separatists in our country also played a slogan of "National Self-determination Right". With the rising ethnic separatism activities, it directly relates to national unity and the fundamental interests of people of all races, and also relates to national long-term stability and the overall situation of reform, development.In this paper, associated literatures on Lenin’s thought of "National Self-determination Right" were regarded as starting points. On the basis of depth study on Marxist-Leninist literatures, this paper tries to make sorts and elaborations of Lenin’s thought of "National Self-determination Right". Regarding theoretical analysis and specific practice as the basic theme, on one side, this paper illustrates the real contents of Lenin’s thought of "National Self-determination Right". On the other side, it discourses correct applications of this theory in specific practice. This paper intends to make scientific summaries of "National Self-determination Right" to dealing with ethnic issues and to insisting on "Regional Autonomy of Minority Nationalities".This paper is divided into five major sections except preface. The first part introduces the source and history background of the thought of Lenin’s national self-determination. In the second part mainly discusses the thought of Lenin’s thought of national self-determination from its main contents and features. The third part mainly discusses the use of national self-determination in The Soviet Union from both positive and negative aspects. The last part discusses that combined with the specific circumstances of today’s ethnic separatist movement; ethnic separatist movement was in the abuse and distortion of "National Self-determination Right" and gives some suggestions for China to correctly handle the ethnic conflicts.
