China and Britain has always had a long tradition of civic and moral education.Since ancient times, China and Britain have the tradition for moral education.Nowadays, with the deepening process of globalization, the world economy, cultureand politics are collaborated with each other. More intensively, China and Britainhave experiencing with a relevant moral baptism test. Whether it is traditionaldeveloped countries as Britain or the largest developing countries as China are facingnew problems of civic and moral education in the process of social transformation. Itshould be recognized that economic development can hardly separate from the moralcohesion of the people. Furthermore, the conflict of social society also needs theeffective moral strength. Under the fast development of the society, the adjustmentand recognition of ethical and moral education is quite essential.The research on the dissertation is based on the history and development statusof civic and moral education in China and Britain. In addition, the study of thecitizenship moral education is comparatively based on both macro and micro researchfor two countries. On the one hand, the macro part is mainly focused on the nationalpolicy, the regulation of civic and moral education through national institutions, andthe value of universal and moral values. Furthermore, we pay attention to the historyand current situation of two countries in order to make a clear mind on how to be amoral citizen. On the other hand, from the micro view, a comparative study of moraleducation between Chinese and British universities is argued in this part. Meanwhile,with the help of two particular representations from China and Britain, ShanghaiInternational Studies University (SISU) and The School of Oriental and AfricanStudies, University of London (SOAS) illustrate a remarkable comparative studybetween Chinese and British moral education in universities.In conclusion, during the time, China and Britain are looking for a harmoniousand suitable civic and moral education system for the national conditions. Bycomparison, it is found that the British model leaves us inspirations and experiencesto governance the nation morally. Moreover, both China and Britain have to face thechanging climate including globalization and marketization, cross-culture, globaleconomy and world political environment. However, no matter where we are going,people cannot live without ethical and moral which interlink with the development ofthe society.
