After 30 years’development, self-taught examination of higher education (SEHE) has trained and cultivated millions of all type of talented people for the nation and society, slowly decrease the urgent need of economic development for talents, and also alleviate the great demand of the masses for higher education to some degree. Looked from its contribution angle, it may be said that it is "a Chinese characteristic socialist education system’s pioneering work". However, with the expansion of General higher education and the increasing development of Adult education, Network education, TV University education, the employment of self-taught graduates is becoming increasingly prominent under the condition of our current economic growth and employment growth is non-compliance. Focusing on and researching self-taught graduates’ employment problems not only can help the self-taught graduates build the awareness of higher education investment risks and enhance them ability to resist unemployment risk but also can motivate the masses to increase the sustainable education investment and prompt the overall level of human capital. Besides, it still can help our county plan and develop self-taught examination of higher education scientifically in new time to make it more healthy, harmonious and sustainable.Therefore, in this study, from an economic point of view, through literature analysis and empirical method, adopting the theoretical analysis, statistical analysis and measurement analysis which is based on the questionnaire survey and interview, we analysis the present situation and reasons of Low quality of self-taught Graduates’ employment deeply by using the labor supply and demand theory, human capital theory and the theory of employment discrimination. Concrete speaking, firstly, we introduce the conception of the index of industrial employment leading and define it. Secondly, finding that the self-taught graduates’ low quality employment showing regional characteristic, industry characteristic, specialized characteristic and gender characteristic based on the questionnaire survey and interview. Thirdly, from the labor supply and demand theory perspective, the main reason is labor market demand for the self-taught graduates deficiency, and caused by demand substitution effect and incomplete information; from the view of human capital theory, the main reason is self-taught graduates themselves lack of necessary production capacity and allocation capacity, and caused by self-taught examination system defects and the self-taught Graduates’ capacity insufficient; Using employment discrimination theory, the reasons lie in that the current employers have being had some obvious and significant statistical discriminations ("educational background discrimination")which caused by obstructed information transmission mechanism. Based on reason analysis, lastly, we make a conclusion and give some corresponding policy recommendations.The solutions to enhance the quality of self-taught Graduates’ employment are to rebuild the self-taught graduates’ production capacity and allocation capacity, establish unobstructed information transmission mechanism and adjust specialty provision of self-taught examination education to make them more prosperous by characteristics.
