Students’ Association, as an effective carrier of campus cultural activities, isfiguring as the second class in colleges and universities. At present, Students’Association has become an organization with significant influence in campusculture because it plays an increasingly important role in improving students’knowledge, maturating their skills and abilities, and enhancing their moral andideological levels. What’s more, it also assumes as an important station thathelps college students to serve, manage and educate themselves. Students’Association is attracting increasing attention of college students for itssignificant functions.However, during the process of its development, Students’ Association isconfronted with some problems, which directly affect the full play of itsall-round functions. Currently, problems lie in both external environment andinternal construction. For example, its management system is defective and inshort of enough support; the association itself develops blindly without adefinite direction and does not function in an effective way; and the activities itorganizes are intermingled with both the good and the bad.This paper, based on a number of study and investigation and the theoryof civil society, takes the Students’ Association in Changshu Institute ofTechnology as an example to study to respond to a series of problems reflectedin the development of Students’ Association in recent years and demonstrates thecountermeasures and suggestions on enhancing association construction. Thecountermeasures and suggestions for higher education institutions includeinsisting on the guiding principle of constructing Students’ Association,clarifying the orientation of developing Students’ Association, standardizing theinner construction of association, and learning valuable experience of famouscolleges and universities aboard.
