Strategy Research On The Construction Of World-class University Based On Benchmarking

Against the background that economic globalization is progressing faster and competition incomprehensive national strength is becoming increasingly fierce, having a world-class university isone key of modern international competitiveness. Competition in the universities is getting more andmore intense. As a modernized management tool, benchmarking is not only the enterprises’ sharpweapon to obtain the competitive advantage, but a new method to enhance the university’scompetitive power.Named as “Strategy research on the construction of first-class university based onbenchmarking”, the paper makes use of literature analysis, case study and so on. On the basis ofsystematic review and analysis of foreign first-class universities’ construction and current researchand theory of benchmarking, the paper attempts to put forward that we should carry out the researchof benchmarking during the progress of constructing world first-class university in China, makebenchmarking a new management method and make it play an active role in reforming managementperformance and improving the management level in university.The paper is composed of five parts: The first part is preface, introducing the current researchsituation of world-class university and benchmarking by domestic and foreign scholars andinstitutions. The third part analyzes the benchmarking’svalue and feasibility in constructing world-class university in China. The forth part introduces thestrategy analyses in constructing world-class university based on the benchmarking. The last partlooks forward to the prospect of application and development of benchmarking in constructingfirst-class university in China.This research enriches world-class university building research result. It also has a goodpractical value for university building.
