The effective implementation of performance management of teachers in higher vocationalcolleges is essential in improving quality of teaching and highlighting features of running a college. Itis also significant for higher vocational college sound development as well as the performancemanagement of teachers.The thesis first analyzes the present situation of performance management of teachers in highervocational colleges based on theoretical thought. Several problems does exit at current phase areemphatically elaborated in the thesis: inadequate attention in performance management; shortage ofeducational funds and the integrity of assessment procedure. Teachers are less involved in the processdue to the less democratic management system; the entire procedure lacks of substantial managementand supervision as well as the feedback mechanism after the evaluation system. Emphasis is only putin task performance rather than peripheral performance; performance evaluation is merely conductedby quantitative analysis instead of qualitative analysis.Based on empirical study on the performance management of teachers in higher vocationalcolleges, the author puts forward several useful principles, such as scientific, systematic, feasible,relevant, hierarchical, comparable, data availability principles and etc. New methods of performancemanagement are proposed in the light of the above principles, the target of performance managementin higher vocational colleges should be set in three effective aspects: personality improvement,teaching accomplishment and practical study.A case study on performance management of teachers was conducted in a certain highervocational college in the last part. By analyzing and sorting out the general basic condition, the authorreconstructs the performance management of teachers in this college and puts forward someconstructive implement suggestions.
