In the time of knowledge and economy, scientific literacy hasbecome an important indicator to measure the development of society.Thus, the improvement of the science literacy of young people hasbecome the slogan of a deeply rooted education. As an important part ofscientific literacy for citizens, astronomical scientific literacy is absorbingmore and more concerns of popular science workers and educationalexperts. In campus, there are growing calls to study more aboutastronomy.In modern China, the popular science work has got the affirmationfrom the party and state. Tibet Autonomous Region Party andgovernment also pay more attentions to the popular science work. Afterthe promulgation implementation of China’s science and technologypopularization of Law (referred to as the Popular Science Law), TibetAutonomous Region promulgated the Tibet Autonomous Region’sImplementation measures of Law of the people’s Republic of China onpopularization of science and Technology. At the same time, theastronomical science popular work, especially the youth astronomicalscience popular work, has got the strong support of the TibetAutonomous Region’s Science Hall and popular science development.The situation of young students’ astronomical science knowledge is thefirst problem what needs finding out. Only understanding the situation aswell as the differences between it and the mainland and foreignastronomical science popularization, we can make our region’s astronomydevelop to the direction of the health and orderly.The first part of this paper briefly describes the reasons of this thesistopics, the meaning of the writing and the researching methods in thewriting process of this paper. The second chapter gives a definition to the “popular science” according to the basic research of astronomical scienceof foreign and our country. On that basis,“astronomical sciencepopularization” and the scope of “the Lhasa area middle school students”have also been defined. Through researching the development ofastronomical science and astronomical science practice at home andabroad, the third chapter introduces the presentation of Tibet astronomydevelopment of the status quo of the science and the astronomical scienceof the Tibet Autonomous Region. Researching the situation of the Lhasaarea, the fourth chapter discusses the advantages and the significance ofcarrying out middle school students’ astronomical science popularizationin Lhasa area. The fifth chapter mainly introduces the astronomicalscience popularization knowledge questionnaire survey of middle schoolstudents in Lhasa area, and through the pre-finishing of astronomicalscience survey especially the collation and analysis of the investigationsdata concludes the astronomy situation in Lhasa area as a whole; Thesixth chapter puts forward recommendations to solve the problem and thethinking of carrying out the astronomical school-based curriculumdevelopment middle schools in Lhasa area, which is on the basis of thequestionnaire and combines the experience of astronomical science athome and abroad with the actual situation of astronomical sciencepopularization in the Lhasa area.On the basis of variety of astronomical science popularization andpopular science literature, we investigated the situation of Lhasa areamiddle school students’ knowledge of astronomy through questionnairesurvey. We found that in Lhasa area, astronomical science popularizationamong secondary school students have been paying off; students haveunderstood the basic astronomy knowledge and have the high interestabout astronomy; Family backgrounds significantly effect theastronomical interest and astronomical knowledge of students; students obtain the astronomical knowledge through a single way because of thelack of resources on astronomical science; the concern of students onastronomy reduce with growth of the grade because of the stress ofentering a higher school. On the basis of study, we put forward a proposalto improve the astronomical science popularization of middle schoolstudents in Lhasa area.
