As successors and builders to the socialism, university students are the country’s valuable resources. The strength of their sense of responsibility is directly related to success or failure of the cause of socialism in China. April 2011, president Hu Jintao said at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua University that:"The fundamental task of education is training of personnel. Universities should adhere to promote students’ healthy growth of all the work as the starting point and end point. As well as fully implement the Party’s education policy, adhere to people-centered education, moral education first, the ability of heavy, all-round development. University that:"The fundamental task of education is training of personnel. Universities should also adhere to focus on enhancing students’ social responsibility of our nation and people.Needless to say, to enhance students sense of responsibility is very important and it is imperative in today’s training. On the one hand, the sense of responsibility of today’s college students is not satisfactory, some are even weakening. As we all know, students born after 1990 are raised in such an era that achievements of China’s reform and opening up is at the biggest, the growing market economy is at the fastest, transformation of social structure is dramatic, and a variety of ideas is stirring. All these factors together form the historical conditions and social environment of the growth of those who born after 1990. Encountering such growth environment, they presented a unique intellectual development and psychological tendency. On the other hand, in the new era of ideological and political education, the environment is facing new challenges. From the international environment, the trends that political multi-polarization, economic globalization, cultural diversity and technology information has deeply impacted the long-formed ideological and political education model of universities. From the domestic environment,in the rapid-developing Chinese society, the social transformation is profound and rapid, the social conflicts of interest is complex, and socio-cultural is colorful.Various values is stirring and impacting the mainstream values of Marxism. These are undermining the effectiveness of the traditional ideological and political education. Therefore, how to combine the ideological and behavioral characteristics of the university students who born after 1990, continuously strengthen and improve ideological and political education, training and upgrading university students sense of responsibility are new requirements brought by the new era, new tasks on the ideological and political education. In this paper, on the basis of extensive literature research,the author further studied and analysised the status of university students’ sense of responsibility, the cause of the weakening of their sense of responsibility,as well as ways of training. This paper is divided into three parts:Part one:Firstly, the paper theoretically defined responsibility, sense of responsibility, the development of sense of responsibility. Responsibility is to have competent people in real life obligations as well as to bear the consequences of their bad behavior which is chosen by themselves. Sense of responsibility is that people grasp their own behavior and its results to conform them to social demands of emotion and will on the base of the understanding of their role and the social demands. It is the self-awareness and conscious to the individual role responsibilities, it is an orientation of value towards self-control, an important spectrum of social conscious. The development of a sense of responsibility is moral education which consider "take responsibilities" as its core. Secondly, indicated the value of the development of the sense of responsibility of university students, and the paper clarified the establishment of a mechanism which bear the sense of responsibility, including the sense of self responsibility, the sense of family responsibility, the sense of responsibility about others around the individual, the sense of responsibility in professions, the sense of collective responsibility, the sense of social responsibility, the sense of ecological responsibility, the sense of responsibility in condition of globalization, etc.Part two:Comprehensively analyses present situation of college students’sense of responsibility and problem of the responsibility consciousness of college students in development, and deeply explores the causes. This part illustrates such problems of some students that Lack of self-responsibility, family responsibility, responsibility of taking care of others, collective responsibility, and social responsibility, ecological responsibility. This paper also analyses the causes around the factors such as influence of the social circumstances, the scarcity of scholastic education, the deviation of family education and the motive of students themselves.Part three:A research on strengthening the sense of responsibility of university students, advancing relative solution. On the basis of the summarization and analysis of the reason why comes the decline of sense of responsibility, a great number of relative materials, combining with the working experiences attained by author herself, the vital principles in the courses of breeding the sense of responsibility and approaches to realize these goals will be further discussed. The five cardinal education relating sense of responsibility of university students are:this education must be guided by socialism value, must attach most importance on students, must be realistic, the education must be participated jointly and must be proceeded gradually. On the basis of the five principals above, it will be developed the research on feasibility and pertinence on strengthening Ideological education, on optimizing the educational environment, on deepening practicing activities and on enhancing self-education.
