Accompanied with the faster process of industrialization and urbanization, the large demand of labor resources in the market makes a lot of peasants enter towns and cities, which brings the issue about migrant children’s education. At the same time, in the elementary education, research on learning autonomy attracts more and more attention in recent years. However, children rarely were taken as the subjects of those researches because of the subjective bias of the researchers. Out of the concern for migrant children and the perception of the significance of learning autonomy, the researcher attempts to exhibit the real English learning state of a migrant child in terms of learning autonomy by using a qualitative research. This study is a case study. The subject is a migrant child who is studying in a primary school in Beijing. The researcher entered the school to do the research as an intern English teacher from April2011. In the course of the study, the researcher used the methods of observation, interviews and research journals to reveal and analyze the English learning autonomy of a migrant child in Beijing from the aspects of psychology and behavior. Combining with the function and influence of school and family, it is hoped that some new ways of improving English learning autonomy of migrant children could be provided based on this study.
