With the development of information technology, the distance between people go to be closer,and the international exchanges and cooperation is increasingly closer and deeper.Understanding of multiple cultures are becoming more and more important, people must go out of the country and touch the world. Literature is the core of culture, foreign literature wrote a nation’s ideological history, precipitated the essence of culture, is the cultural carrier of the nation’s spiritual home,is one window for the students recognizing the western world, is the bridge communicating one’s heart and the wide world.In the studying of foreign literature, the students understand foreign culture’s essence, rich Chinese accomplishment and improve their quality of life by reading classic works.The study make foreign literature in junior middle schools language teaching material by people’s education press as the object of study.mainly because the junior middle school is an important period of transition of life, is the second stage of compulsory education, is a critical moment to decide a person’s life quality in the future.And language teaching material by people’s education press with certain value is used widely, the best schools and most remote schools all use it. In addition, learning foreign literature is the importent part of expanding their cultural vision, cultivating a global consciousness, improving the humanistic quality,that influences students’ quality of life.In this article,language teaching material cover all kinds of the teaching materials of studying language,not only the class textbooks, but also the extracurricular reading.And foreign literature refers to the works of Non-Chinese speaking writer,through the statistics and investigation,the foreign literature works in language teaching material by people’s education press with strong humanistic concern and pay attention to the combination of emotion and thought choose works of western countries to be the main component.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is the description of the foreign literature in the junior middle school language teaching material including the present situation of class textbooks and the extracurricular reading.The second part is the study to summarized the characteristics of the foreign literature in the junior middle school language teaching material,analyze the features of humanities, emotion and thought by the aspects of thought and language.The third part is studying the positioning of foreign literature in middle school stage. according to the different standards of positioning, age psychological characteristics and different types of works, clear different teaching positioning.The fourth part is the study of teaching strategy of foreign literature,attention to the restoring of the background,grasp the work’s characteristics, using the method of comparing and insist the students as the main body,in order to improve the quality of teaching of foreign literature.Finally, based on the previous study we should abandon the utilitarian value to insist on the value of life. So that when students study the foreign literature, they could realize the meaning of life, enrich their spiritual home.
