The implementation of the new curriculum standards is another round of revolution of art courses, and redefine the characteristic of art courses as followed:Art courses provide with the humanities. Inspire of this, the students should be easier to accept the content of courses if teachers use "the story behind article" to start teaching, or starts the courses from the cultural background where artists and their creative works in. Teachers should to lead the students appreciate all the paintings by bring the paintings back into their own particular period of history, culture of society and national. I would help the students to understand what thinking the painter try to convey through their work. The artist, as an independent individual, has different style of art. But the painter can not be divorced from the era and the nation in which they live. Their thought had been affected by the humanistic thought and cultural environment. On the other hand, the students could understand the human spirit of global diversification by appreciate different works of art from all over the world.This article will raise the idea of combine art appreciation courses and cultural context while teaching, and put forward:Firstly, use the cultural context as the background of art appreciation. Secondly, create a cultural context from combining art and other humanities. Thirdly, integrate all media and local resources that conducive to teaching. With the explore in these aspects of how to launch a high school art appreciation course in the cultural context, could take advantage of the cultural context so the content of the appreciation could be more likely to be recognized and accepted by students.The cultural context would not only help in art appreciation teaching as a tool, but also show the profound cultural connotation and humanities in the art.
