The new Curriculum standards, as one of the most important national basic programmatic documents on course, greatly affects the direction of the education and course reform’s development. Soon after the new Curriculum standards was given in2003, our country’s basic education reform has been in full swing. A version of textbooks of the People Education Press were written according the demands of the new curriculum standards, got through the national primary and secondary textbook approval committee in2004and have been widely used. However, the use of new textbooks brings us a lot of questions that needs to be discussed, studied and solved. In order to solve these problems, it is necessary for teachers to deeply analyze educational materials, comprehend new educational concepts and ideas that are placed in the textbooks, so that teachers could understand and use the textbooks better.Analytic Geometry is base of higher mathematics. The introduction of part of Analytic Geometry to high school textbook could help students experience the idea of the combination of number and shape, develop students’ability of solving complex problems by flexible application of their own knowledge, and get prepare for further study. As Plane Analytic Geometry is a very important content in the mathematics curriculum of high school, we need put emphasis on plane analytic geometry textbook analysis. This paper will analyze Plane Analytic Geometry high school textbook of A version of textbooks of the People Education Press in several aspects below:the status and role of analytic geometry in high school knowledge system, the Plane Analytic Geometry part of high school mathematic curriculum standards, teaching objective system, the content structure of the textbook, mathematical thoughts and methods, main concepts, the basic skills required, important theorem or nature, important knowledge and difficult knowledge, whole structure, typical material and so on. Through comparing new curriculum standards and old teaching outline and the part of Analytic Geometry of new curriculum standards textbooks and old textbook, we can find a lot of differences existing in content, structure, style, etc. In this way, we could see the prominent features of A version of textbooks of the People Education Press on the point of new curriculum.From the textbook analyze, I find that A version of textbooks of the People Education Press have many distinctive characteristics, such as diversification of knowledge, step-by-step teaching, teaching materials is carried out by a series of questions, textbook materials reflect ideas of different education genres such as Postmodernism and Constructivism, focus on Meta-cognitive guidance, focus on the integration of information technology and textbooks, etc. At last I put forward several suggestions and reflection on some material of the textbooks and teaching practice through my individual thoughts, in order to help teachers make better use of textbooks in practice.
