With the continuous development of our society to accelerate the transformation and urbanization, the homeless juveniles become increasingly prominent, and has become a community social issues of common concern. In this paper, research and discussion is a13-year-old to18-year-old homeless juveniles, here called the homeless youth.Duing to the long away from home,homeless young people tend to have low self-esteem, poor expression, irritable, lack of social skills and other shortcomings,who is in the pursuit of independence and focus on peer relationships during adolescence. Therefore, It is significant for their growth and development that developing interpersonal skills of street youth from the perspective of preventive and developmental. Group work have highly targeted activities, full participation and other advantages, therefore, showing its unique advantages in improving the homeless young people’s interpersonal skills.This study takes it as the foundation that the homeless juveniles assistance and protection centers in Suzhou City, uses the interview, literature review and observation and other methods to collect data and understands the interpersonal problems and needs of street youth.On this basis, through the interpersonal theme groups to carry out, this thesis attempts to explore the effectiveness of group work methods in the cultivation of homeless young people’s interpersonal skills,as well as constraints of group work applied to homeless young people in interpersonal skills training,and thus providing some references and suggestions on homeless young people assistance and protection for the future.
