Anti-drug Social Workers Involved In Community Drug Treatment

June1,2008the drug laws of the Peopl’s Republic of China was promulgated andimplemented, which made it clear that the community drug treatment is of greatimportance. Different cities across the country tried to find out a new model of communityrehabilitation work which gave insight into this work. In order to apply the comprehensivedrug rehabilitation model, Suzhou introduced full-time social workers to the communitydrug treatment system, which provided support for the community rehabilitation work,complemented the drug treatment system, and it proved to be effective. In the practice ofcommunity drug treatment, we believe that one of the key measure is the social workerintervention in drug rehabilitation, in order to establish the mechanism of the rehabilitationwork, to ensure drug addicts to return to society, to realize the concept ofhuman-orientation for drug treatment. This article reveals the importance of social workerintervention in drug rehabilitation through summarizing the experience of Suzhoucommunity rehabilitation work and analyzing case studies. In community drug treatment,drug rehabilitation social workers, on the one hand, are in need of the corporation of thegovernment and the different social forces, on the other hand, in need of professionaltheories and practical techniques.
