Colleges and universities, key actors in the national scientific andtechnological innovation system, have the responsibility to carry out theimportant tasks of knowledge dissemination and scientific research. Withthe in-depth development of market economy, colleges and universitiesshould not only continue to play the traditional dominance in the basictheoretical research, but also innovate the theory and technology andpioneer the new area of the integration of product-learn-research system,according closely to the market economy needs. Beijing, as the nationalresearch and education center with many well-known colleges anduniversities, research institutes and high-tech enterprises, is an importanttechnological innovation highland in our country. Beijing has uniquescientific and technological resources and lots of annual patentapplications and grants. However, it is an indisputable fact that there is alow conversion rate in Beijing colleges and universities, one of the keyactors of patent output. Most patents, created by Beijing colleges anduniversities, are not taken to the market smoothly and converted toproducts timely to realize patent commercialization and create economic and social benefits.There are many reasons for the low patent commercialization rate inBeijing colleges and universities. These reasons include not only thepatent own reasons, but also the patent owner lack of the necessaryconversion funds, business experience etc, as well as patented technologymarket development is insufficient and inventors and investors aredifficult to dock etc. To solve these problems, it needs government,enterprises, universities tripartite joint efforts to distinguish these threeobligations and responsibilities in the patent business process. The patentcommercialization is a systematic program which is also a strategic issueplaced in front of the colleges and universities.Patent commercialization is the ultimate aim of patent technologytransfer. Research on patent technology transfer is the core of patentcommercialization research, thus, this thesis carried out the research onpatent commercialization in Beijing colleges and universities, based onthe view of technology transfer, using combined methods of data analysisand case research. At the first, this thesis analyzed the data of patentsgrants volumes, patents trading volumes and patent technology transferimplementation rate, and used SWOT (trend) analysis to identify theadvantages, weaknesses and core competencies in Beijing colleges anduniversities patent technology transfer. At the second, this thesis carriedout a research focused on successful patent technology transfer cases in Beijing colleges and universities. Through above methods, the authoranalyzed and comment on the patent technology transfer status in Beijingcolleges and universities, summarized the characteristics of theirdevelopments and captured the overall patent commercializationrealization in Beijing colleges and universities.Finally, the author madesome reasonable suggestions in order to promote faster and better patentcommercialization developments in Beijing colleges and universities...
